The December data from Land Registry's House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 7.0 per cent which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £177,766. House prices up 0.6 per cent since November.  Repossession volumes decreased by 37 per cent in October 2014 to 796 compared with 1,260 in October 2013.

  1. The region in England and Wales which experienced the greatest increase in its average property value over the last 12 months is London with a movement of 16.3 per cent. 

  2. London also experienced the greatest monthly rise with a movement of 1.8 per cent.

  3. North West saw the lowest annual price growth with a movement of 1.5 per cent.

  4. The North West saw the most significant monthly price fall of 1.6 per cent.

  5. The most up-to-date figures available show that during October 2014 the number of completed house sales in England & Wales increased by 4 per cent to 80,158 compared with 77,371 in October 2013.

  6. The region with the greatest fall in repossession sales in October 2014 was South East.

January House Price Index - headline figures from Land Registry’s HPI show an annual price increase of 6.7 per cent with the average price in England & Wales now £179,492 compared with a peak of £181,101 in November 2007.

Monthly house prices up 1.3 per cent since December 2014.

  1. London experienced the greatest increase in its average property value over the last 12 months is London with a movement of 12 per cent. 

  2. The North West experienced the greatest monthly rise with a movement of 2.6 per cent.

  3. North East saw the lowest annual price growth with a movement of 0.1 per cent.

  4. Yorkshire and The Humber saw the most significant monthly price fall of 1.5 per cent.


Sales and repossessions during November 2014, the most up-to-date figures available, show that:


  1. the number of completed house sales in England & Wales decreased by 19 per cent to 68,107 compared with 83,726 in November 2013

  2. the number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million decreased by 18 per cent to 869 from 1,060 a year earlier

  3. repossession volumes in England and Wales decreased by 47 per cent to 687 compared with 1,286 in November 2013

  4. London was the region with the greatest fall in repossession sales

Sales and repossessions during September 2015, the most up-to-date figures available, show that:

  1. the number of completed house sales in England & Wales decreased by 8 per cent to 72,397 compared with 78,877 in in September 2014

  2. the number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million increased by 1 per cent to 1,273 from 1,265 a year earlier

  3. repossessions in England and Wales decreased by 45 per cent to 406 compared with 733 in September 2014

  4. the region with the greatest fall in the number of repossession sales was the East with a decrease of 64 per cent from September 2014.
